Soap. It's THAT important

Pneumonia and diarrhea are the leading causes of death for children under the age of five. Surprisingly, deaths from these diseases can be heavily reduced by simply washing hands with soap. Meanwhile, hotels in Asia discard millions of bars of soap each day. We at Soap Cycling want to utilize this otherwise wasted resource to save thousands of children each year.

Soap Cycling (再皂福) is trying to improve sanitation and hygiene in underprivileged regions, one child at a time. We do that by collecting and sanitizing slightly used hotel soaps and other sanitation amenities. These life-saving items are then distributed to underprivileged families and schools in disadvantaged communities around the world, particularly Asia. In this case, one man’s trash is truly another man’s treasure.

Have you ever wondered what happens to the soap left behind at hotels?
